The options you have

There’s no single denture for every patient. Depending on what you’re missing and what your jaw looks like, your best fit might be:

• Full dentures — replace all your upper or lower teeth, custom-shaped to your face and bite.
• Partial dentures — fill in one or more gaps while anchoring around your remaining healthy teeth.
• Immediate dentures — placed the same day teeth are removed, so you’re never without a smile during healing.
• Implant-supported dentures — anchored to dental implants for a far more secure fit. No more worrying about slipping while you eat or speak.

What to expect at your fitting

Your first visit is mostly listening. Dr. Sanie will ask what’s bothered you about previous dentures (if you’ve worn them) and what you want from your smile. We’ll take impressions and photos, talk through tooth shade and shape, and walk you through every step before anything is made.

Living with new dentures

The first few weeks take some getting used to — your tongue and cheeks need a little time to learn the new shape. Most patients are eating most foods comfortably within a month. Let us know about any sore spots; small adjustments make a big difference. We’ll see you back periodically to check the fit, since gums and bone naturally change shape over time.

If you’ve been told dentures are your only option

Sometimes they’re the right choice — sometimes they’re not. Dental implants and implant-supported overdentures have changed what’s possible, even for patients with significant tooth loss. If you’d like a second opinion, we’re happy to give you one with no pressure.
