Dental Emergencies
In pain?
we’re here.
If you’re having a dental emergency, reach out first. Same-day time is held open every clinical day, and you’ll be seen as fast as possible.
What counts as a dental emergency?
- Severe tooth pain — especially if it's waking you up
- A knocked-out tooth — time-sensitive, call immediately
- A cracked or broken tooth with pain
- Swelling in the face or gums — could indicate infection
- A lost filling or crown
- A dental abscess — pus, fever, or a bump on the gums
- Bleeding that won't stop after a procedure or injury
If you've knocked out a tooth
Time matters — a knocked-out tooth is most likely to be saved if re-implanted within 30 minutes. Pick the tooth up by the crown (not the root), gently rinse with milk or water (don't scrub), and either re-insert it into the socket if you can, or place it in milk. Then call us right away.
If you're in severe pain
Take ibuprofen if you can tolerate it. Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling. Avoid hot foods and chewing on the affected side. Call us and we'll get you in.
After hours
Outside of clinical hours, call our main line and follow the prompts. For life-threatening emergencies (severe facial swelling that affects breathing or swallowing, uncontrolled bleeding), go to the nearest emergency room.
