Infection Control
A clean office,
taken seriously.
Sterilization and infection control aren’t optional details — they’re the foundation of safe dentistry. Here’s exactly what we do to keep every visit safe.
Standards we follow
Our protocols meet or exceed guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Every team member is trained on these standards and re-trained regularly.
What happens between every patient
- Surface disinfection. Every contact surface in the operatory — the chair, light handles, x-ray button, counters — is wiped with hospital-grade disinfectant.
- New disposables. Bibs, gloves, masks, saliva ejectors, and many other items are single-use and discarded.
- Sterilized instruments. All reusable instruments are cleaned, packaged, and sterilized in an autoclave before being opened in front of you for your appointment.
- Hand hygiene and PPE. Our team washes hands, gloves up, and masks up before and between every patient.
How autoclave sterilization works
Reusable instruments go through ultrasonic cleaning to remove debris, are pouched and sealed, and then placed in an autoclave. The autoclave uses pressurized steam at high temperature to kill all bacteria, viruses, and spores. We test our autoclaves weekly with biological indicators to confirm they’re working — a higher standard than the minimum requirement.
Water lines and air quality
Our dental water lines are tested and treated to keep waterborne bacteria far below regulatory limits. We use high-volume suction during procedures to manage aerosols, and our office is equipped with HEPA-grade air filtration in treatment rooms.
What you’ll see for yourself
Your hygienist or assistant opens fresh instrument pouches in front of you. Our team puts on new gloves and masks where you can see. The trash from your previous patient is gone. The chair is wiped, the cup is new. None of this is hidden — it’s designed to give you confidence in what we’re doing.
Questions are welcome
We encourage patients to ask about any aspect of our sterilization or safety procedures. Feel free to ask your hygienist for a tour of our sterilization area. Transparency is part of safety.
