Cosmetic Bonding
A small change,
finished in one visit.
Composite bonding is the quickest, most conservative way to fix a chip, close a small gap, or reshape an uneven tooth — usually in under an hour and without numbing.
How bonding works
Dr. Sanie shapes a tooth-colored composite resin directly onto your tooth, sculpts it by hand to match the surrounding teeth, and hardens it with a curing light. A final polish brings out a natural shine. Because we’re adding material rather than removing enamel, most bonding visits don’t even need anesthesia.
Common reasons patients ask about bonding
- A chipped front tooth from a fall or a hard bagel
- A small gap that you’d rather not close with orthodontics
- A tooth that looks shorter or rotated compared to its neighbors
- An exposed root surface near the gum line
- A stain that whitening alone can’t lift
Bonding vs. veneers
Both cover the front of a tooth — but they do so very differently. Bonding is direct (sculpted in your mouth), faster, and more affordable. Veneers are lab-made porcelain, more durable, more stain-resistant, and longer-lasting. For one or two small touch-ups, bonding is often the right call. For a comprehensive smile redesign, veneers usually win.
How long it lasts
With reasonable care, cosmetic bonding lasts 5–10 years. It can stain over time (coffee, tea, red wine) and may need a polish or touch-up at some point. Avoid biting fingernails or pens, and let us know if you grind — a nightguard protects bonded teeth too.
Same-day fixes
Have a wedding or photo this weekend? Call us. Most cosmetic bonding cases can be scheduled same-week, and many patients walk out an hour later with the change already done.
